Description

This color lithograph is signed in pencil with the AP designation by noted Jewish portrait artist Sandu Lieberman. The lithograph is in perfect condition and the matte and frame are in average condition. Including the frame and matte this piece is 32 3/4″ tall x 26″ wide. A very collectible and a wonderful addition to your collection.Because the number of APs is smaller and because the APs are “closer to the artist’s hand,” signed APs tend to be more valuable than the prints of a signed and numbered limited edition. EA. An épreuve d’artist or artist’s proof.Sandu Liberman was born in Yasi, Romania in 1923. Between 1946 and 1953 he took part in many state shows in Bucharest. In 1952 he was awarded the gold medal at the International Art Festival in Romania. That same year he was commissioned to illustrate the large encyclopedia Romania, and was appointed Official Portrait Artist of Romania. He moved to Israel in 1962 and was commissioned by the Government of Israel to make portraits on many occasions. Among others, he did the portraits of Golda Meir, and of the late Nelson Rockefeller (the painting is in Albany, New York). Sandu Liberman died in 1977. His art is displayed in 11 American museums.
