Yda was born and raised in the outskirts of Havana where she began painting in the 1960’s as a child. Yda describes her work as “part of her dreams and what she sees”. She has had very little formal training. Everything comes from within as if a “Gift from God” “The Descent And The Impure” has attractive, vibrant cobalt and mango colors showing four elegant yet unique Modigliani inspired women which give the painting a mesmerizing look. The exaggerated necklines and eyes along with the accents of lace and jewelry clarify each woman’s social and religious position.
